A Christian friend sent this to me last week:

Over the past several years, many people have felt that the Church was dead, or at least they’ve raised that question. One time, when I was talking with someone about this, the scripture came to my mind where Jesus says, in Matthew, “The maid is not dead, but sleeping.” I felt that the Lord was telling me that that applied not just to the young girl that Jesus went to raise from the dead but also to the Church. For the Church has mostly been asleep, and for quite a long time. But she has not been dead.

The other night, I was lying there in bed awake, and I felt that the Lord showed me that the church is like Sleeping Beauty—in the fairy tale—and the good news, the wonderful news is that her Prince has come! The risen Lord is here on earth, and He is going around kissing the lips of His bride, raising her up out of sleep.

And as she wakes out of her long slumber she forms a cloud—a cloud of witnesses. That cloud (the awakened bride) is growing, and it’s not going to be too long before it will be such a great cloud that every eye shall see it!

The verse comes to mind here that says, “The flowers are appearing on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.”

The bride is waking up; and she is shaking off the curse that was put upon her. She is making herself ready to walk with her Prince—as His helpmate—ruling and reigning with Him. Ready to join Him in the work of releasing the whole creation from its bondage to corruption.

Just as Moses lead God’s chosen people out of their bondage in Egypt, so will God’s people be led out of their bondage to the rulers of the darkness of this age. And it is important to note that when Moses spoke to Pharaoh, he did not just say “Let my people go,’’ He said, “Let my people go that they may serve Me.” The Israelites were not just led out of Egypt to be free from the oppression of the Pharaohs. They were set free for a purpose: to become people that loved and served God! Just as centuries later when they were set free from the Babylonian captivity, they were not merely released to return to Jerusalem, but they were sent, by the decree of the King, “to build the house of God.”

So now God’s chosen people—the Bride—the great cloud—is being raised up to fulfill God’s promises to His Son—and to all creation. Helpmates—serving with the Lord in bringing healing to the nations, justice to the land, and joy to the world. In other words, establishing His Kingdom right here on earth.

Now it is high time to awake out of sleep. Let us cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light.
