Many Americans think they have been mistreated by their state and local governments, that their leaders have become drunk on power and are hypocrites, ordering mandates which they themselves violate in their private lives.

But Jesus is born.

Many Americans believe they have been discriminated against because of their skin color and ethnicity and have been treated unfairly and unjustly.

But Jesus is born.

Many of Americans think that the election has been stolen from them, that the electoral system itself can no longer be trusted. They fear the nation they once knew no longer exists.

But Jesus is born.

What does it mean when I keep writing, “Jesus is born”?

There is life in only one place. In one person.

In one God.

True life. Life that flourishes here on earth and life eternal in an astonishing kingdom. We know little about it but trust God’s word that it exists and that it waits for those who believe and love Him. After all, Jesus came from there and went back after He arose from the dead. No one has ever done that.

There is true truth in only one place. In one person.

In one God.

There are innumerable truths about a great variety of things on earth and in the universe to be sure, but there is only one eternal truth, truth that will last forever. Yes, all earthly truths will vanish because one day the Lord God Almighty will come and make all things new (Revelation 21:5). Good-bye sun, good-bye moon, and all our present sources of light. “They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever” (Revelation 22:5).1

There is justice in only one place. In one person.

In one God.

One day the secrets of each individual heart will become known. Everyone will give an account for what he or she has done on the earth. Suffering people may not see justice realized during their lives on earth, but it will be accomplished on the Day of Judgment. Judgment is coming to all, and true, eternal justice will prevail. God is not a respecter of persons, of ethnicity, of position, or of wealth. “But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality” (Colossians 3:25).

There is true, just government in only one place. In one person.

In one God.

That God, that person, is the one who came, who was born, and this is the One we celebrate on Christmas—or should, anyway. His government will exist forever. There will be no stealing of elections. There will be no devious adversaries attempting to overthrow the King. No votes for another ruler, no change in government or sovereign whatsoever, for eternity.

“For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of His government and peace

There will be no end,

Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,

To order it and establish it with judgment and justice

From that time forward, even forever.

The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9:6–7).

Rejoice with me.

Jesus is born.
