The election of Joe Biden to the presidency and the Democrat party’s control of the legislative branch is a blessing for Christians. Why? Because it has become clear that Christians can no longer place their hope in government or men. We are told, “Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation” (Psalm 146:3).1 Christians can now hope only in the Lord God Almighty. That’s a good thing, and we should have been doing it all along.

Why is that hope gone? The central and primary reason: The minds of those in charge are darkened and debased.

“We’re talking about abolishing the police, we’re talking about abolishing ICE, we’re talking about abolishing prisons.” Thus spoke a person at a day-time meeting of the Democrat Party Convention in August, 2020, that nominated Joe Biden for president. Who was this person? She told us. She’s a Black-Vietnamese, transgender non-binary/gender-transcendent mermaid Queen-King.

In August, Cardi B interviewed candidate Joe Biden. At the time, Cardi B had a hit song, the title of which is so disgusting that I cannot write it in this article.

Democrats have become just what Scripture says about them, futile in their thinking and darkened their foolish hearts (Romans 1:21). Their minds have become debased (Romans 1:28) The Complete Word Study Dictionary supplies these synonyms for the word “debased”: “Unapproved, unworthy, spurious, worthless. undiscerning, not distinguishing, void of judgment.”2

In May of 2019, the House of Representatives passed an act that was debased and void of judgment. It is called the Equality Act. It adds the phrase “sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity)” to our nation’s civil rights laws that ban discrimination on the basis of race, creed, or color. That means if you “discriminate” against someone because of their “sexual identity,” you will be accused of breaking civil rights law. That “discrimination” will be considered as onerous as racism or bigotry. Evil is called good; good, evil.

If the Equality Act becomes law, biological males can sleep in homeless shelters that now segregate people by gender, as do domestic violence shelters. All “genders” could use the same public bathrooms and locker rooms. Prisons would house all “genders” in the same cells. Men who identify as women could join sports teams. It is possible that Christian organizations and businesses could not reject hiring people because of their gender identity. Joe Biden has said that he intends to pass the bill within the first one hundred days of his presidency. It is, after all, as he said, the civil rights issue of our time.

Our government will continue to make laws that are sinful and oppose God and His truth concerning the beings He created. It started with Roe vs. Wade in 1973. Then came the Supreme Court’s Obergefel decision in 2015, making it legal for same-sex couples to marry.

As the Christian reader may be aware, homosexuality is an abomination according to Scripture.

“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22).

“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 See also 1 Timothy 1:8-11).

However, I must include here that there is hope. All sin, theirs and mine, is disgusting before God. That’s why we need a Savior to wash our sins and guilt away and change our very nature.

So, finally, the last crushing blow to our hope in this government. Millions of Americans no longer trust the electoral process and now believe their votes count for nothing.

Rejoice, Christians. It is good to hope in God. He alone is sovereign over all things, including the fate of nations.
