Bird Experts Will Think Me A Fool.

I watch the robins feeding in the grass as I look out our window. They hop around, then stop, and poke their bills into the soil. Their heads come up as they swallow a worm. It is amazing to see how God feeds them. I am sure bird experts will think me a fool. They may ask, “Do you really think God helps birds find food?” Well, let’s consider this question the Lord asked Job:

“Who provides for the raven its prey, when its young ones cry to God for help, and wander about for lack of food?” (Job 38:41).1

Job did not give an answer because it was a rhetorical question. Obviously, it is God, not Job, who provides prey for ravens. All of them. So, are ravens the only bird for which God provides? Well, since He is aware of every sparrow that falls on the earth, billions of them, we can assume He feeds them, too.

He asks if Job enables the hawk to fly and where.

“Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars and spreads his wings toward the south?” (Job 39:26).

That would be all hawks on the earth.

He then asks Job if he commands the eagle to fly and make its nest.

“Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up and makes his nest on high” (Job 39:27).

That would be all eagles.

God created everything that exists. Every raven, sparrow, hawk, and eagle. Every animal. Every atom and quark. Every gene in every animal. Every star, which He has counted and named, by the way.

I rejoice in all this. In the last few years of my life, my delight in God’s creation has increased. The joy I experience comes when I glorify Him for His creation, and since I am saying amen to His truth, the Holy Spirit makes it real to my heart. I think about the unique song of every bird and that God composed each diverse tune. When I look at a beautiful flower, I think about the fact that He engineered its color and its petals. He created strawberries and how they taste. I realize that He knows how they taste because He created our tongues. On and on it goes, and all created things are full of wonder, even the dangerous ones. All glorify Him. I feel sorrow for folks that believe all of these things just evolved. There is certainly no joy there at all. Just dead facts. Nothing to glorify except a theory.

Those who believe that created life evolved have a rather large problem, as Paul pointed out in his letter to the Christians in Rome.

“For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made” (Romans 1:20a).

And here is the end of that verse:

“So they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20b).

There are those bird lovers, ornithologists, and scientists who know God exists. It has been clearly perceived by the things He created. Most, however, just don’t want to acknowledge it. Actually, if they did, they would probably lose their jobs. This is the state of our denial of the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of all things, in the West.

I invite the reader to think deeply about who God is and what He has done. This God who created all things loves you and gave Himself sacrificially so your sins can be taken away, and you can stand without fear and with joy in God’s presence. This is what John the Baptist said when he first saw Jesus:

“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).

This is the most glorious truth of all. So, let me gently ask the reader. Do you believe in a God like the one described in this article?
